We spoke to a couple of the best wedding decorators in Gurgaon & Delhi who are ruling the industry and how. We were so intrigued by what goes behind those doors, how they come up with such unique ideas every year. So, we asked them a few questions and made sure they spilled all the beans!!

Q. Why did you choose to become a wedding decorator or designer?

Creating a wedding decorator has also been in my head since I saw BBB(Band Baaja Baraat). I love the idea of creating something beautiful for the couples and being a small part of their amazing journey. I honestly believe weddings are such a beautiful and important aspect in one’s life and to be a part of it in any manner and to do something is just so amazing.

Q. What is tough for you to enter this wedding industry?

There were many wedding decorators in Delhi and Gurgaon in 2020’s but at that time people didn't experiment with the decor and I wanted to do different things and experiment with some unique ideas. So, when I jumped into the industry it was tough for me to cut the barrier set by people as people were skeptical in trying new things. After all, it was an important day and they were not sure if me and my team would be able to pull it off as they had never seen such ideas. But, slowly and steadily people came around to the new ideas which were fresh and probably the same price as they would generally pay.

Q. What is the difference between being a wedding decorator in the 2000’s vs 2021’s?

As I said, people were not very easily convinced with the ideas and their executions as they have never seen such themes. In 2000’s people would rather choose the same decor setup than experiment. So, back then it was my idea, my imagination, that I sold. People didn't have much say to it. But then when few people started working with us, they saw the potential in us, started believing in us and that's how we started growing. In 2021, every person wants a different theme, everyone wants to experiment and you know you learn by meeting new people as they throw in some of their ideas which are fun and unique. Now, it's not just my ideas anymore. It is an amalgamation of many ideas and with the help of it, we create something new, unique, fun and beautiful.

Q. What are your favorite mehndi decor themes? 

Mehndi decor themes are the most fun to experiment with. Traditionally, we used to have a rajasthani mehndi theme which was of course everyone’s favorite. Now, we do have a lot of different themes for mehndi decor. My personal favorite is tropical theme, bohemian theme and nautical theme.

Q. What is going to be the theme for 2022?

Well, I think everyone already knows the answer to this question. The theme for 2022 will be

“Minimalist”. With the last two crazy years, people have shifted towards intimate weddings. And keeping in mind that it is still not very safe out there, we want to make sure things are easy and comfortable. Minimalist does not mean that the weddings cannot be grand, but instead of focusing on too many huge installations everywhere, we will be focusing on a few decor elements and use it to highlight the wedding theme. We will also play with softer colors and when we want some pop of color will be using grey scale tones of color be it in blue, green, pink, magenta or red. This season will have cool undertones. I am sure you will be seeing crazy wedding decor in 2022.
